THE STORY - Lean on Me
This painting of two women, with one resting her head against the other, represents the profound spiritual bond and mutual support women offer each other, deeply rooted in biblical truths. The simple act of leaning is not only about physical support but also reflects the inner strength shared between women. Their connection speaks to the loyalty between Ruth and Naomi, the courage of Esther, and how faith drives action for the greater good. The women in the painting aren’t clothed in fabric but in the strength and dignity described in Proverbs 31:25: “Strength and honour are her clothing.” This divine strength comes from God. Though often seen as the “weaker vessel,” women possess a spiritual resilience through their connection with Christ. The gold in the painting, for me, symbolizes the golden thread of life—God’s hand weaving through every moment, holding everything together. Just as gold is refined, our lives, with all their challenges and joys, are part of a beautiful tapestry He creates. The richness of their spiritual garments—the “garments of salvation” and the “robe of righteousness”—shines with the radiance of God’s grace.
